Nalo Hopkinson is an acclaimed Canadian/Jamaican science-fiction writer. Her novel Midnight Robber follows Tan Tan from her privileged life on the Caribbean-colonised planet of Toussaint, to the brutal world of New Half-Way Tree after her father is exiled for committing a terrible
crime. Tan Tan must grow up fast if she means to survive in this beautifully told coming-of-age story.
